Measuring Body Surface Temperature
The Testo infrared temperature instruments are measuring instruments for the non-contact measurement of body surface temperature. Testo recommends use of infrared thermometers as a comparative measurement tool for detection purposes in groups of people. For the most accurate reading, the body temperature including the forehead must be at normal ambient conditions without the effects of heat or cold from other sources or activities.
NOTE: Subject should remove any face coverings such as hats, glasses, or masks, for optimal temperature reading.
- The Testo IR measuring instruments are not designed to be operated by persons (including children) with restricted physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or by persons with insufficient experience and /or knowledge, unless they are monitored by a person responsible for their safety or if they have been instructed to use the Testo IR measuring instruments.
- The infrared temperature measuring instruments are not suitable for diagnostic measurements in the medical sector. The use of the infrared temperature measuring instruments is not a substitute for consulting a doctor.
- The body surface temperature on the forehead differs from the internal body temperature), which is generally taken via ear canal, orally, or rectally using a medical thermometer.

In the following cases, a control measurement with a conventional fever thermometer is recommended:
- If the measured value is lower or higher than expected
- For new-born babies up to 100 days
- For children under three years who have a weakened immune system or who react unusually in the presence or absence of fever
- If you are using the infrared temperature measuring instrument for the first time or are familiarizing yourself to it
