All the important information about the testo 890 kit with two lenses

testo 890 thermal imager:
  • Up to 307,200 temperature measuring points: a detector size of 640 x 480 pixels guarantees accurate detection. SuperResolution technology even boosts image quality to 1280 x 960 pixels!
  • Thermal sensitivity < 40 mK: even the smallest temperature differences can now be seen
  • You can also choose to save thermal images as JPEGs
  • Process analysis package (optional): the combination of fully radiometric video and sequence capturing in the instrument enables wireless measurement and easier handling at the measuring location
  • The camcorder design with wrist strap, along with the rotatable, fold-out display, makes taking images considerably easier. This makes it possible for a wide variety of camera angles, as well as one-hand operation
  • Panorama image assistant: individual images are combined into a panoramic image as soon as they are taken. This means, for instance, that you can take thermal images of entire building shells without having to laboriously compile them or assess them individually
  • SiteRecognition technology: with similar measurement objects, the thermal imager identifies measuring locations immediately, assigns them automatically and archives them accordingly
  • High-temperature option: the measuring range can be extended up to 1,200°C
  • Special measuring mode for detecting areas susceptible to mould: the dewpoint in the room is calculated by manually entering the ambient temperature and humidity. The surface temperature value measured by the camera is then compared to the dewpoint. The display now shows the risk of mould in traffic light colours (red, yellow, green). The optional radio humidity probe makes things easier: automatic transmission of readings means that manual input of humidity and ambient temperature is no longer needed
  • FeverDetection (optional): use the assistant to check people for high body temperature in public places and in means of transport – for public health protection
  • Lens can be exchanged
  • Voice recording (as comments on the images) possible with headset which is included in the scope of delivery
  • Integrated digital camera with power LEDs: you can take well-lit, real images to go with every thermal image - making documentation and assignment easier
  • Auto-focus for easy one-hand operation and less blurred images
  • Minimum focus distance 10 cm

Applications

Checking as part of electrical maintenance

In electrical installations or cables, increased temperatures are always an indication of an overload, an imminent malfunction or an existing defect. Testo thermal imagers facilitate evaluation of the heat status of low, medium and high-voltage systems. Thermographic images lead to the early detection of defective components or connections, so that the necessary preventive measures can be introduced in a targeted way. Thermography therefore minimizes dangerous fire risks and prevents costly production downtimes.
Typical applications for the thermal imager:
  • Checking switch cabinets
  • Checking electrical connections
  • Monitoring and checking photovoltaic systems
  • Checking as part of mechanical maintenance

Analysis of power distribution systems

Avoiding the failure of power distribution systems is absolutely essential due to the far-reaching consequences. Faulty connections on high voltage masts can be particularly critical here. These transitions to high-voltage lines, which sometimes occur at great distances, can only be clearly identified with a sufficiently large detector or a telephoto lens. This is the only way to obtain the necessary degree of detail to enable error-free analysis of the thermal image.

Analysing building shells at a glance

The task of taking thermal images of large buildings poses several challenges for users. Spatial restrictions due to walls, roads or safety zones around neighbouring buildings can make it impossible to capture the measuring object in a single image. In such cases, Testo thermal imagers help users obtain the necessary overview. The panorama image assistant can be used to combine several images of the building shell taken at close range into a single thermal image. Users can therefore identify thermal irregularities at a glance across the entire building shell with a high degree of detail.

Providing comprehensive energy advice

In building thermography, infrared technology is particularly suitable for quick and effective analysis of energy losses in buildings’ heating or air conditioning systems. Thanks to their high temperature resolution, Testo thermal imagers provide detailed images of inadequate insulation and thermal bridges. They are ideal for the recording and documentation of energy losses on outer windows and doors, roller blind casings, radiator niches, in roof structures or the entire building shell. Testo thermal imagers are the perfect measuring tool for comprehensive diagnosis and maintenance uses, and whenever providing energy consultation services.

Making it possible to see critical temperatures on circuit boards precisely

In the field of research and development, thermal imagers are also used for the targeted analysis of temperature distribution, e. g. on circuit boards. Electronic components on circuit boards are getting smaller and smaller – thus increasing the challenges with regard to heat dissipation. Only premium-quality thermal imagers with a really fine geometric resolution are suitable for this task. Analysis of the heating and cooling behaviour over time is also helpful for optimisation and this can be carried out using the Testo thermal imager's video measurement

Safe high-temperature measurement in quality assurance

Whether in glass bottle manufacturing, ceramics or tile production: Wherever hot materials are processed, quality can suffer if machines and conveyor belts are not suitably heated. Testo thermal imagers allow you to test the exact temperatures from a safe distance. The thermal imagers testo 885 and testo 890, with high thermal resolution, measure up to 650 °C (optionally 1200 °C possible).

Operation does not need to be interrupted for the measurement. Apart from this, practical features help you in on-site evaluation: Thanks to area marking, min./max. temperatures from up to 5 marked areas are shown. And you can display up to 10 measurement points.

Maintenance: Checking hot furnaces and ladles

In industrial maintenance, thermal imagers are excellent for measuring high temperatures from a safe distance. This allows you to identify wear, damaged insulation and coking on furnaces and ladles. The thermal imagers testo 885 and testo 890 measure up to 650 °C – optionally even up to 1200 °C.

Thanks to the panorama image assistant, even large furnaces and machines can be recorded completely (ideal for rotary kilns in cement production). The software IRSoft for the evaluation of the images, and the process analysis package for recording thermal developments (optional), are also practical.
