Make temperature differences visible
Every object above absolute zero emits heat radiation, which can be visualized with a thermal camera. This technology makes it possible to display different temperature ranges in distinct colors. In building thermography, thermal cameras are used for diagnostics, such as identifying thermal bridges within a structure.
In heating construction, thermography enables the inspection of underfloor heating systems or the detection of leaks in a non-destructive way. In maintenance, it helps identify wear and tear before systems fail. Today, efficient and time-saving troubleshooting is virtually impossible without a modern thermal camera.
Representation of temperature distributions or differences in an image
Clarification of areas of increased temperature in systems
non-contact measurement by infrared camera
Detection of different objects in dark surroundings
Thermography: an important test in homes and industry
Temperatures can be measured with a normal thermometer. However, this is only possible at one point at a time. When monitoring a large area, constant point measurements would require a disproportionate amount of effort and would therefore be very expensive. The thermal camera, on the other hand, displays temperatures directly in an image, as it records the distribution of the temperature on the surface. This means that certain areas or several objects stand out separately because they differ from comparative temperatures.
The thermal camera uses infrared radiation to display temperature differences.
Building thermography: building diagnostics, analysis of insulation or construction defects, localization of leaks, course of underfloor heating
Photovoltaics: detection of defective cells and testing of electrical connections
Industry: electrical and mechanical maintenance
Heating construction: Testing underfloor heating systems or locating leaks
F&E: for recording temperature curves during PCB development and in test and experimental setups, whenever a temperature difference is visualized
The areas of application of the thermal camera are even more varied and comprehensive, especially as the technology is becoming increasingly widespread and utilized. In general, thermography is a great help in detecting heat sources and its field of application will continue to expand in the future.
Testo offers various models of thermal cameras so that the right model can be found for every area of application. Whether for daily use on the construction site or for highly professional applications in industry, the thermal camera is supplied in the desired configuration. When choosing, it is important that you pay attention to the following things:
Resolution must be at least 160 x 120 pixels
Simple/intuitive operation
Versatile PC software for analysis and documentation
The thermal camera measures temperatures and records them, making differences clear and thus facilitating the evaluation of building inspections, for example. The camera from Testo has various features and, thanks to SuperResolution, can display significantly better and clearer images.
Other features include:
IRSoft: Analysis of data from thermography
SiteRecognition: It combines measurement recognition and image management for recurring measurements of similar measurement objects and manages the images of a measurement location in a database
Panorama image assistant: Display large objects on one image
Testo not only offers the right thermal camera for your application, but also an entire process analysis package. This allows you to track, save and evaluate the development of the measured temperatures. Testo Scale Assist on the testo 865 and 872 prevents misinterpretations, as it automatically scales comparable thermal images. With the help of Testo E-Assist on the models mentioned, the emissivity and the reflected temperature are set automatically. All in all, every thermal camera from Testo offers all the necessary features to work in the selected area or to use the thermal imager sensibly and profitably. Various models are available for different applications, which are suitable for beginners and all-rounders as well as models that meet the highest requirements as professional devices.
